Methane emissions detected by GHGSAT over the volcano Mount Fentale, Ethiopia on January 31, 2025 at 07:59:33 UTC. The image shows a Mapbox basemap satellite image of the volcano with the GHGSAT-detected emissions data superimposed on top. A rainbow colour ramp for the plumes shows the enhancement of methane above local background levels in parts per billion, with dark blue as low and bright red as high. The emission rate is estimated to be 58 metric tonnes per hour.

Lower levels of gas are colored shades of blue and higher concentrations are depicted in shades from white, red to black.
