Maximum Altitude: 40 km
Description
The Global Space-based Stratospheric Aerosol Climatology (GloSSAC) team first created the dataset in 2018 to support the climate modeling community through the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) Phase 6. GloSSAC is an internationally recognized source for assessing long-term variability in stratospheric aerosol properties. It supports major international science activities such as CMIP Phase 7 as well a range of other aerosol variability applications. GloSSAC is a global data product providing monthly zonal average aerosol climatology in netCDF4 format. It currently includes stratospheric aerosol extinction coefficient and optical depth at 525 and 1020 nm at 5-degree latitude and 0.5 km altitude bin resolutions. The data covers the time period from Dec 1978 through present and is available via NASA's Earthdata (https://www.earthdata.nasa.gov/data/projects/glossac).
