Join NASA's Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) for a comprehensive two-hour webinar exploring the groundbreaking Polar Radiant Energy in the Far-InfraRed Experiment (PREFIRE) mission and its revolutionary insights into Earth's energy balance. This interactive session will illuminate how ASDC serves as the gateway to critical polar radiation data that advances our understanding of climate dynamics in Earth's most sensitive regions.

The webinar begins with an overview of ASDC's mission and capabilities, followed by essential background on the PREFIRE mission, which provides unprecedented measurements of outgoing longwave radiation (OLR). Participants will discover how PREFIRE's CubeSat constellation captures far-infrared emissions from polar regions, filling critical gaps in our understanding of Earth's radiation budget.

The demonstrations will showcase ASDC's comprehensive suite of cloud-based tools and services, including recorded demos of NASA Worldview for visualization, Earthdata Search for data discovery, OPeNDAP for programmatic access, Harmony for data processing, and integration of AWS cloud with QGIS and ArcGIS Pro for advanced geospatial analysis.

A highlight of the session features an interactive Jupyter notebook demonstration using Python, where attendees will learn to access and visualize PREFIRE data through the earthaccess library and other open-source tools, empowering researchers to conduct their own polar radiation analysis. The session concludes with curated resources for continued PREFIRE research and an interactive Q&A segment.

Whether you're a climate researcher, data scientist, or educator, this webinar provides essential knowledge and practical skills for leveraging PREFIRE data to advance understanding of polar climate processes and Earth's changing energy balance.
