As of June 27, 2025, plans were announced that the Department of Defense (DOD) will discontinue processing of all Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) data products, including data from the Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS) and Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I).
We will follow up with a complete list of data products affected and potential solutions for continuing research.
