Snow in the Pyrenees Mountains

The image shows snow, in white, covering the mountainous terrain of the Pyrenees Mountains. Slide the bar back and forth in the comparison tool to see the Normalized Snow Difference Index layer from Aqua/MODIS. Areas in pink have high snow index values. Another way in which to differentiate between cloud cover and snow cover (which both appear as white in the true-color imagery), is to view the false-color composite from MODIS Bands 7-2-1, where snow appears in a bright cyan in comparison to the clouds which are white/pale cyan.
