Image of the Chesapeake Bay (and the Delaware Bay to the northeast) acquired on 10 April 2016 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor aboard the Terra satellite. The Chesapeake Bay is an estuary within the states of Maryland and Virginia, though the drainage basin for the bay covers six states, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
