abstractNote={This data set provides the number of hot spots detected across the legal Amazon Basin at 5- km resolution by the AVHRR (Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) on NOAA 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 satellites for the entirety of 2001 (January 1 - December 31). Only hot spots detected at night are included. This data is useful for modeling fire events and evaluating human impacts on the Amazon Basin using fire as an indicator of anthropogenic disturbance (Arima et al., 2007).},
