Description

The data set (ATL07) contains along-track heights for sea ice and open water leads (at varying length scales) relative to the WGS84 ellipsoid (ITRF2014 reference frame) after adjustment for geoidal and tidal variations, and inverted barometer effects. Height statistics and apparent reflectance are also provided. The data were acquired by the Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) instrument on board the Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) observatory.

Version Description

Changes for Version 6 include:
  • Added new uncorrected sea ice segment height parameter
  • Added AMSR2 sea ice concentration data
  • Implemented land filtering
  • Added ANC10 ancillary file to read in sea level pressure
  • Added YAPC parameters
  • Introduced interpolation and extrapolation routines for ocean tides and mean sea surface (MSS)
  • Updated the PODPPD_flag filter so that a processing option is available for every flag value
  • Implemented dynamic inverted barometer for processing; read/interpolate sea level pressure directly from ANC10
  • Added lineage information to the metadata
  • Updated the MSS variables description, added mentions of the source of the MSS, and clarified the use of the tide free system
