Description
The Global Food Security-support Analysis Data (GFSAD) project provides global cropland datasets to help address food and water security challenges of the twenty-first century. The project develops multiple cropland products using time series of Landsat and Sentinel-2 satellite data, machine learning algorithms, and cloud computing.
The GFSAD Landsat-derived Global Cropland Intensity Product of the Conterminous United States for the year 2020 (nominal) 30 meters (m) Version 001 (LGCIP30_CONUS) maps seven classes of cropland intensity. The Level 3 product was derived from Harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 (HLS) time series data for the period 2019-2021 to create a nominal 2020 product.
The LGCIP30_CONUS data product contains one variable representing cropland intensity with the following seven classes: Water/Ocean, Single Cropped croplands, Double Cropped croplands, Triple Cropped croplands (not utilized for CONUS), Continuous croplands, Fallow croplands, and Non-croplands. The data product is provided in GeoTIFF format as 10° x 10° tiles. A low-resolution browse image is also available.
Currently, the LGCIP30 product is only available for the Conterminous United States. LGCIP30 data covering the rest of the planet will be added at a later date.

Variables
The table below lists the variables contained within a single granule for this dataset. Variables often contain observed or derived geophysical measurements collected from a variety of sources, including remote sensing instruments on satellite and airborne platforms, field campaigns, in situ measurements, and model outputs. The terms variable, parameter, scientific data set, layer, and band have been used across NASA’s Earth science disciplines; however, variable is the designated nomenclature in NASA’s Common Metadata Repository (CMR). Variable metadata attributes such as Name, Description, Units, Data Type, Fill Value, Valid Range, and Scale Factor allow users to efficiently process and analyze the data. The full range of attributes may not be applicable to all variables. Additional information on variable attributes is typically available in the data, user guide, and/or other product documentation.
For questions on a specific variable, please use the Earthdata Forum.
