The Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) released an expansion of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Version 2 Surface Reflectance Data Products. This VIIRS Version 2 release includes data products from the NOAA-21 satellite which was previously called Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2). The NOAA-21 platform was launched on Nov. 10, 2022. Capitalizing on the success of the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) and NOAA-20 platforms, NOAA-21 features four similar instruments which take measurements related to atmospheric composition; carbon cycle, ecosystems, and biogeochemistry; weather and climate; and water and energy cycles.
