Featured Ocean Heat Budget Observation Method: CYGNSS
NASA's Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) uses eight micro-satellites to measure wind speeds over oceans to improve forecasting for extreme weather such as hurricanes. The Delay Doppler Mapping Instrument (DDMI) onboard CYGNSS platform measures ocean roughness, which is used to indicate wind speeds and can be applied to calculate ocean heat flux.
