This 2024 Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) image from the HLS project shows the degree of land use change in a region of Western Brazil. Green areas with high NDVI values indicate healthy vegetation while tan and brown areas with low NDVI values indicate soil or barren areas.

The Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 Project Releases Vegetation Indices

These new vegetation indices offer the same near-global coverage, and 30-meter spatial resolution as the initial HLS products.
