Wildfires broke out on the Greek island of Chios on Sunday, June 22, 2025, in the areas of Kofinas, Agia Anna, Agios Makarios, and Agios Markos, and on Monday, in Agiasmata. The fires damaged homes, crops, and infrastructure on the island.
The images above were captured by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) aboard the joint NASA/NOAA NOAA-21 platform on June 23, 2025. The left "A" image is a true-color corrected reflectance image overlaid with the Fires and Thermal Anomalies layer.
