Turn Earth Data into Real-World Impact with NASA's Earth Science Applications Guidebook

This interactive resource guides users through Earth Science at NASA, developing Earth Action proposals, and managing an Earth Action project.

Satellite-derived models and algorithms are foundational components of Earth science, but translating that science into useful decision-making tools takes a different kind of effort. The path from research to real-world applications of data may not be clear, even for established Earth scientists.

NASA's Earth Science Applications Guidebook – available in an online, interactive format and as a PDF – now provides the needed guidance.

Drawing on the experience of more than 50 NASA and NASA-funded researchers, the Guidebook offers practical advice, expert tips, interactive examples, audio quotes, and downloadable content. Its format enables visitors to navigate quickly to the content they want.

This amazing, interactive guide helps people turn Earth observations into the refined information that decision-makers need.
Thomas P. Wagner, associate director for Earth Action in NASA’s Earth Science Division

The Guidebook has three sections covering NASA's Earth Science to Action Strategy, insights on successful Earth Action proposals, and guidance on managing an impactful project.

Aimed at both early career and established researchers, the Guidebook focuses on developing proposals for an Earth Action Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Science (ROSES) solicitation. It also provides guidance for those who have already been funded and are getting started on an Earth Action project.
