The Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS) is a NASA Earthdata web application and API that offers a simple and efficient way to access and transform satellite data from a variety of federal data archives. With Version 3.122, terrestrial remote sensing data products from NASA’s Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission have been incorporated into AppEEARS. This has expanded PACE data access to the broader terrestrial remote sensing community and provided a range of easy-to-use subsetting and visualization options for users to extract data and plot spectra according to their needs, while reducing output file sizes.

Launched in February 2024, the PACE observatory uniquely provides near-daily, hyperspectral coverage of Earth’s surface. Its instruments generate novel observations of terrestrial ecosystems in high spectral and temporal detail. Additionally, PACE extends important heritage multispectral data records, such as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and several others.
