The S-NPP spacecraft entered a non-nominal state at ~14:50 UTC on July 10, 2026. All science data, including ATMS L1B, remains unavailable and will not be recoverable until further notice; however, all instruments are in a safe state.

Update July 17, 2026, 7:15 AM: The S-NPP satellite was brought back online yesterday, and we have resumed receiving S-NPP data at 19:48 UTC on July 16, 2026. At this time, users are advised to exercise caution when using S-NPP products while the instrument Calibration/Validation teams continue to assess data quality.

Update July 20th, 2026: all S-NPP ATMS and VIIRS science products are approved for operational use
