Sentinel-6/Michael Freilich Reprocessing Updates: Version 2 Completed, Version F Retired

Reprocessed L1A, L1B, and L2 altimetry data from the Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich/Jason CS radar altimeter mission were released through NASA’s Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) for the first time on July 28, 2022. The new releases include Non-Time Critical (NTC) data reprocessed with the latest Sentinel-6 processing baseline (F06). The new datasets are considered Version 2; they replace the corresponding datasets initially released as Version F.

This follow-up announcement informs users that all reprocessed data have been ingested into the new Version 2 datasets, such that Version 2 now contains the full record of sea level observation by Sentinel-6 from the NTC data stream. All NTC data will be released through Version 2 datasets operationally starting from 00:00 UTC on Aug. 2. The corresponding Version F datasets are hereby retired. Users are reminded that they should switch to the datasets listed below to obtain NTC data from PO.DAAC going forward. NRT and STC data will continue to be available through the original datasets released for Version F. 

The reprocessed datasets can be accessed through NASA Earthdata Search. They are also accessible via the DOI links listed below, which redirect to the corresponding dataset landing pages on the Earthdata catalog.
