NASA's Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) has released the NAST-I WHyMSIE Version 1 dataset. The dataset contains high spectral and spatial resolution passive infrared sounding observations collected by the National Airborne Sounder Testbed–Interferometer (NAST-I) during the Westcoast and Heartland Hyperspectral Microwave Sensor Intensive Experiment (WHyMSIE) field campaign conducted from October 22 through November 13, 2024.
The dataset provides observations of atmospheric temperature, humidity, cloud properties, water vapor, and boundary layer characteristics across the 3.5 to 16 micron spectral range. These measurements support research focused on improving hyperspectral remote sensing techniques and advancing understanding of thermodynamic and planetary boundary layer processes across diverse environments.
This release establishes a publicly accessible Level 1B data record from the WHyMSIE campaign and provides a foundation for comparison with other airborne, in situ, and future hyperspectral microwave observations. The data are available in netCDF-3 format through GHRC DAAC.
