GPM Science Team is planning to launch reprocessing of all TRMM/GPM products into version "08" on March 9, starting with data day March 1, 2026. Details are briefly summarized by the Science Team in a data update document.
Since the last data day of version 07 will be February 28, and the reprocessing is expected to start on March 9, this will be a period during which the archival of GPM version 07 data will gradually stop. While the transition will not result in data gaps, some delays in posting the version 08 data at the Goddard DAAC are possible.
Note that IMERG Early and Late will continue to be produced as version 07, until summer 2026. It will, however, use the V08 L2 GPROF precipitation retrieval products as its inputs. To document this change, the IMERG Early and Late minor version in the file names will be changed to V07C (from the current V07B).
As of March 4, IMERG Early and Late have been produced using GPROF v08 as input. The switch is reflected by the minor version "V07C" in the files names.
