The Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) has released data for the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Experiments (ABLE). While there were three deployments, data is only available for ABLE-2 and ABLE-3, as ABLE-1 data was unable to be transferred to ASDC due to its age and availability in hard-copy form.

Each of the sub-campaigns had two deployments: ABLE-2A (July-August 1985), ABLE-2B (April-May 1987), ABLE-3A (July-August 1988), and ABLE-3B (July-August 1990). ABLE-2 was designed to gain a better understanding of the role of the tropics in global atmospheric chemistry and to investigate processes which might lead to the enhanced concentrations of carbon monoxide (CO) in the tropical upper troposphere. ABLE-3 was designed to survey two different high-latitude ecosystems over summer months, focusing on understanding the “early warning” response of a near surface, organic active layer to climate variability.
